Making Money With Clickbank

Making money with Clickbank is all about affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing is simply promoting other people's products, and whenever they make a sale as a result of your promotion you get a commission. The two main types of products to promote are digital (downloadable) and physical products. If you're going to sell digital products, the best place to find them is Clickbank.

What is Clickbank?

Clickbank is kind of like a huge warehouse of digital products that you can sell. If you're a writer or publisher, and you've created an informational product that you think people will buy, you can easily sell it on Clickbank. In fact, there are over 10,000 different products available to sell on Clickbank. It's a huge industry! In order to promote any of these products, all you need to do is sign up as a Clickbank Affiliate. Once you sign up, you can promote any or all of the products offered on their site.

How much can I earn?

That depends entirely on what products you choose, how much they cost and how much commission they pay, and how good you are at promoting them. Fortunately, there are tools to help you learn how to choose products and how to promote them. That's the information we're going to give you on this site. It takes the guesswork out of making money with Clickbank!

How do I get started?

The first thing you need to do is sign up with Clickbank. Click here for a short tutorial on how to do that. Once you sign up, you need to find a product. You can search the products on the Clickbank site itself by clicking on Marketplace, but I find that to be kind of confusing and hard to use. My preference is to use CBEngine to find products. It's much easier to narrow down your selections with CBEngine. Remember, you're looking through more that 10,000 products!

How do I promote the product?

Once you've found a product, you need to promote it! The three ways we're going to show you are Pay-Per-Click, or PPC, Wordpress Blogs, and Squidoo. Click on any of those terms for more information on how to get going. Check them all out - they're different ways of doing the same thing, and you'll have to decide which will work best for you.

Signing Up With Clickbank

You're ready to dive into the world of Clickbank Affiliate Marketing and you need to get started. Here's a quick tutorial on how to get going.

First, you need to go to Clickbank.
Click the "Sign Up Now" button at the bottom of the page. You'll be redirected to a typical sign up page. One thing to note on this page: when you pick a nickname, pick something you can remember but that isn't your name. This shows up on all links that you create to sell your products.
Go and check your email in a new window. Find the one from 'notify@clickbank.com'. Copy down or copy the confirmation code to the clipboard.
Go back to the window with your Clickbank application. Fill in the confirmation code from the email, fill in the image from below the next line, and click "Finish".
Print the next page - this contains your nickname and password. You'll need both of these.
Now, go in and complete your profile. Click the "My Account" link in the upper right. Fill in your tax-id (Social security number, unless you have a corporation), then select a payment threshold. Click save changes, then make sure everything is right and click the OK link.
You'll be directed to a general page. Signup as a Clickbank Affiliate and get your own reseller hoplink.

How To Choose A Clickbank Product

There are 2 ways that I use to find products to promote on Clickbank. The first is going into the Marketplace on the actual Clickbank Site. The second is by using a product called CBEngine.

The Clickbank Marketplace allows you to filter products by Category and Sub-Category. You can also select products based on Keywords and you can sort in a variety of ways. Using the Marketplace is free, and is actually not too bad of a way to find products. The only problem I have is it's kind of confusing to look at, and it doesn't really give you very much information about the particular product.

The other way I use to look for products is by using a website called CBEngine. This site shows you the same products that are available in the Marketplace, but is much more user friendly and gives you a lot more information. When I first started out I used Clickbank Marketplace, but once I had a little money coming in I went ahead and purchased a subscription to CBEngine. It costs $40/year, and $30 to renew it after a year, and in my opinion is really worth it.

What makes it worth it?

Information and ease of use, mainly. In the affiliate marketing field, you don't want to be wasting a bunch of time searching for stuff and promoting products that aren't going to sell. You've got to have an edge! That's what I believe CBEngine will give you. Some of the things that make this product unique are the following:

Brand new products. It shows the latest products to hit Clickbank. This may or may not be the way you want to go. It's usually good to mix in the tried and true with the new.
Re-listed products. These are products that were out there before and have been relisted
Multiple sort and filter options. You have the ability to sort and filter the products in hundreds of ways, such as gravity (how many people are actually making sales), price, commission rate, commission dollars, categories, and much more. You can actually put in minimum and maximum amounts in these fields to filter the results even more.
Clean interface. It's much easier to read, and get the information you need all on one screen.
Graphs and trends. CBEngine professional offers lots of graphs and statistics showing how long the product has been available, how it's sold over time, whether the name has changed, and much more. When you're picking a product, you really should have all that information in order to make an informed decision.

I don't really like spending a bunch of money on tools and training guides, but there are a few that I think are necessary. I'm only going to tell you about the ones that I've bought, I'm not trying to make a bunch of money off you here by promoting everything that comes down the pike. In my opinion, CBEngine is one of the first things you should buy if you're serious about making money in affiliate marketing.
